No need to panic, govt fully equipped, says Vijayabaskar
Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar urged the people not to panic despite a few swine flu cases being recorded in the state and asked the public to approach only government hospitals when suffering from fever.

Stating that there were three cases of swine flu recorded in the districts like, Tiruchy, Pudukkottai and Tiruvallur, the Minister said that all the government hospitals in the state have adequate stock of medicines for treating the disease.
“Around 10 lakh Tamiflu tablets have been stocked in the GHs. There is no need for people to panic. The state is fully equipped to tackle the situation,” Vijayabaskar said.
He also advised the public to approach the respective GHs as soon as they identify symptoms of fever. The Minister also warned of strict action against those spreading rumours about Rubella vaccination drive across the state.
He reiterated that the vaccine was safe and should be administered to children below the age of 15. Similarly, steps have been initiated to administer the vaccine to children in tribal areas, slums and kids of migrant workers through mobile teams.
He added that the health department had roped in officials from the education department and respective local bodies besides fielding publicity department to make the vaccination drive a grand success.
