AR Rahman to play silent tune on January 20
Extending his support to lakhs of youngsters protesting to revoke the ban on jallikattu, Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman announced that he will observe an one-day token fast on January 20.

“I’m fasting tomorrow to support the spirit of Tamil Nadu! (sic)” he tweeted. A R Rahman and Viswanathan Anand are the latest internationally noted figures from Chennai to declare support for the ongoing protests organised by youngsters to save jallikattu.

Five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand extended his support to holding the bull taming sport, saying it was a cultural symbol.
“Jallikattu is a cultural symbol. Respect it. I’m all for animal rights but here that is not the point. tradition and livelihood are (sic) “, the chess legend wrote on Twitter. “My state rises again. In unison. In peace. Proud to be a Tamizhan da. Gennext here are modern yet culturally rooted (sic),” Anand, who hails from Chennai, said.
