Special Sub Inspector missing in Madurai
A Special Sub Inspector (SSI) of Police has gone missing after he allegedly accompanied the family members of a senior police officer to Dharmapuri on January 13.

In a complaint, B Vijayalakshmi, wife of P Balasubramanian (50), a SSI attached to the Central Crime Branch of Madurai city police said her husband was asked to accompany the family members of a senior police officer in a private vehicle to Dharmapuri on January 13. He was supposed to have boarded a bus to Madurai on the same night from Dharmapuri. But he did not return home. His two mobile phones had been switched off and his whereabouts were not known, she said. Tallakulam police have registered a man missing case and are investigating.
Sub Inspector dies at EnnoreÂ
A sub inspector of police died of burns at his residence in Ennore. He allegedly suffered burn injuries while putting out a fire that broke out in his house. Karpagamani (57), lived in First Street in Kamarajar Nagar, Ennore with his wife and two sons. On 14 January, his wife’s saree caught fire while she was cooking and Karpagamani went to rescue her.Â
The police said, he pulled her saree in an attempt to save her. As kept pulling, the material came off from his wife’s body but unfortunately was entangled in his hands, said the police. So his wife was saved but he suffered injuries.  Karpagamani suffered around 33 per cent burns on his hands and face. He was immediately taken to the hospital and was undergoing treatment at the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Wednesday. Karpagamani has been in service for 30 years and is survived by his wife and two sons.Â
