Both VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan and MDMK general secretary Vaiko arrived here by the same flight on Saturday. But, Thirumavalavan came out first and minutes after his interaction with the press, Vaiko met media persons. When questioned if their separate interactions with the press was due to the difference of opinion over various issues, Vaiko denied and said that they talked to each other as usual during the flight trip. “I came out late as I had to collect my luggage. He did not have any,” remarked the MDMK leader in a lighter vein. “Our friendship is beyond difference of opinion,” Vaiko added.

The two leaders had come to Coimbatore to take part in the two-day 100th anniversary of the propagation of Dravidian principles organised by Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) on Saturday and Sunday. There were differences in what both the leaders had to say when they were asked about the same issue. When asked if the BJP had anything to do with the I-T raids on the office and house of former chief secretary Rama Mohan Rao, he said that the MDMK welcomed it as a lot of important documents and cash to the tune of several crores of rupees. Thirumavalavan said “Mamta Banarjee boldly said that such raids were targeted only on those States where BJP was not in power. It is high time O Panneerselvam also comes out with a statement or explanation.”
