AIADMK man part of group from Thanjai
I-T sleuths from Tiruchy seized Rs 35.6 lakh with Rs 2,000 denomination from a group of five persons including a Tiruchy based hotel owner and AIADMK district level office bearer at Orathanadu in Thanjavur.

The gang confessed that they were in a practice of exchanging old denominations with new currencies for a certain percentage commission.
Based on a tip off, a team of police led by the Orathanadu police Sub Inspector were on a vehicle check-up near Periyar statue at Orathanadu main road on Friday night to apprehend a gang with huge amounts for exchange in Thanjavur-Pattukkottai section. By late night, the police stopped a car (Audi car No: TN 01 AW 1221) and questioned them. Since their reply was not satisfactory, the police searched the car in which they found Rs 35.60 lakh new Rs 2,000 denominations and passed on the information to their higher official and I-T officers.
