“Amma did not want Sasikala to step into her shoes. If she wished so, Amma would have at least made her a councillor when she was alive, but she did not. There have been talks about Sasikala becoming AIADMK general secretary from the moment Amma died, which is shrouded in mystery. No senior leader could meet Amma in the hospital. There was no transparency in the treatment given to Amma,” she said.

Amid such controversies, there is talk about Sasikala becoming general secretary, but general secretary cannot be elected by short cut, she said. According to her, as per article 30 (5) of AIADMK by-law, the person aspiring for general secretary post should be a primary member of the party for a minimum of five years, but Sasikala was expelled in 2011 and she was reinstated only in 2012.

“I learnt that executive and general council members have been made to ink their names in blank papers. They might amend the by-law. From the beginning, it was Sasikala and her family who had brought disrepute to Amma’s name. They cannot question my right to rake up such issues. If I don’t ask who else will? I am AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP. I am not an unattached RS member. I will move the court against everyone who’s involved in Amma’s treatment,” she told this newspaper.
