AIADMK cadre held for staging fast in Rock City

A district AIADMK unit extended their support to Sasikala to become the General Secretary of the party and adopted a resolution and presented it before the party headquarters. The post was held by the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. 

On Thursday, around 10.30 am, a group of partymen led by Rajaraja Cholan, KP Balasubramaian and Thiruselvam, all circle level office-bearers, gathered in front of the MGR circle near the court. They garlanded the statue and soon sat in front of the statue with the party flag and placard stressing their demand. They also raised slogans in praise of Sasikala and announced an indefinite strike.  

Soon after, public started gathering at the busy junction and traffic was hit on the stretch because of the fast by the cadre. On information, a police team led by Cantonment inspector Palraj rushed to the spot. He requested them to clear the spot. But the cadre who had not obtained any prior permission to hold the fast refused to do so. As their persuasion failed, police arrested all the 25 cadre from the spot.
