Three arrested in woman-son suicide case

The incident happened when Uma and her 13-year-old son, Karthikeyan, committed suicide in their house at Valliyur. Police investigations revealed that Uma was separated from her husband Ayyappan four years ago, and was living with her son at Valliyur. After the separation, Uma was in a relationship with Ganesan, also from Valliyur. 

When Ganesan’s wife Suguna came to knew about the affair she went to Uma’s house along with Ayyappan and verbally abused Uma for being in relationship with her husband. As Uma was humiliated, she committed suicide along with her son. Police then booked a case against Sugana and Ganesan and began a search for them, as they had absconded. But, Ganesan had attended Uma’s funeral on Sunday. 

During the cremation Senthilvel, elder brother of Uma, picked up a fight with Ganesan. As the dispute intensified, Ganesan along with his friend Patturajan hacked Senthilvel and he was seriously injured. Following the incident, police booked another case and arrested Ganesan and Patturaja. In the meantime, Suguna who was absconding was also arrested on Tuesday. Uma’s father Shanmugasundaram had submitted a petition to Valliyur police claiming that Suguna, Ganesan and Patturajan were responsible for her daughter’s suicide and demanded action against them.
