The delegation comprising Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC) Vanitha Mohan, Southern India Engineering Manufacturers Association (SIEMA) KK Rajan and Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA) V Sundaram went to Delhi on Thursday.

On behalf of 51 industrial associations they made representations to Venkaiah Naidu and Union Ministers for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Kalraj Mishra, and to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya.

Alleging unequal distribution of currency across India, they pressed for equitable distribution of cash with more allotment to industrial hubs to persuade labourers to open accounts. “Now even workmen whose salaries are remitted into their accounts are not  able to withdraw money due to shortage of cash in the banks as well as ATMs,” SIEMA president Rajan said.

“Venkaiah Naidu took the representations to the Prime Minister the same day and got back to us over phone assuring that all the problems are resolved at the earliest (especially those faced by MSMEs),” Vanitha Mohan said.
