    Five AIADMK cadre die on hearing news of CM’s health

    On hearing the news about Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s cardiac arrest, five people have died in the state. Two of them passed away in Coimbatore city, while one each died in Salem, Erode and Dindigul.

    In Coimbatore, M Palaniammal (62) of NGGO Colony near Thudiyalur was upset on seeing the news in the television channels that the Chief Minister was critical on Sunday night. The Thudiyalur police said that the mother of four was a daily wage labourer and AIADMK member for eight years. Palaniammal and her husband Marichamy (65) were watching TV when she was lamenting about the CM’s health. Around midnight she complained of chest pain and fainted. Her husband rushed her to a nearby private hospital. But she was declared as brought dead. 

    AIADMK member Rayappan (65) of Iyyer Layout in Singanallur in the city died around 1 pm on Monday. He was upset since news came on Sunday night and collapsed on Monday.  He was declared as brought dead in a nearby private hospital. In Salem, AIADMK’s former secretary for 55th division Jayaraman (55) of Arisipalayam died around 3 pm when he saw the news that Jayalalithaa’s condition has worsened. In Erode, Raju (38) a daily wage labourer of Manickampalayam Housing Unit at Ambedkar Nagar in the town died of cardiac arrest around 1.30 am on Monday in his house. The police said that the AIADMK member was watching news about the CM’s health till late at night. He fell unconscious in the chair from which he was watching news. His family rushed him to the Erode government hospital where he was declared as brought dead. 

    In Dindigul a 60-year-old AIADMK functionary died of heart attack on hearing about the CM’s health. Periyasamy, a resident of Kuttupatti near Natham in Dindigul district, was watching the television at his house on Sunday night. When he came across the news of the deteriorating health of the Chief Minister he started crying. Suddenly, he started sweating and collapsed. His family members rushed him to the hospital. But he was declared brought dead. Doctors said that he suffered a heart attack. On hearing about Periyasamy’s death, local AIADMK cadre and functionaries rushed to his home. He was buried on Monday evening with full party honours.
