Enthusiasts seek fresh law on Jallikattu
Group of Jallikattu enthusiasts staged a protest at Madurai, demanding the Central government to enact laws in favour of Jallikattu and to ban PETA. They staged a protest at the Collectorate and raised slogans in favour of the sport Jallikattu. They also insisted that PETA should be banned.

They claimed that Jallikattu was the traditional game of the Tamils and it was a symbol of bravery. Jallikattu is not just a game but the culture of Tamil people. They also claimed that Jallikattu was helpful to maintain native breed of cows but now the American-based organisation PETA had sued against Jallikattu with the intention to destroy the native breed of cows. There is a multinational conspiracy lying behind the ban on Jallikattu claimed the enthusiasts. They further claimed that Jallikattu was a symbol of communal harmony. People of all communities raised bulls and they lived harmoniously in the villages claimed the enthusiasts. Similarly, in Ramanathapuram the Jallikattu enthusiasts submitted a petition to district administration demanding the government to take steps to conduct Jallikattu and other games such as rooster fights.
