Thirunavukkarasar was addressing reporters here before taking part in the party’s Western Region consultative meeting. Party functionaries from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Karur participated in the meeting. He said that all political parties were against black money and that they were only fighting because the common man is affected. Responding to claims by BJP leaders that people are not protesting against demonetisation and that political parties alone were making a noise over it for personal benefits, he said that political parties are for the people. They fight for the people and not for themselves. Thirunavukkarasar said that Modi is presently in the bad books of the people. He claimed that the Prime Minister’s assurance that the hardships faced by the people due to the demonetisation exercise will come to an end in 50 days cannot be true. Stating that the party will go for an alliance in the coming local body election, he also asked the party cadre to be prepared even if the party was to go alone in the polls.
