Sanjay scalps six; Paliwal hits hundred

CHENNAI: Left-arm spinner MS Sanjay (6/31) scalped six wickets as Alwarpet CC bundled Jolly Rovers CC out for 140 in the second innings on the penultimate day of the TNCA First Division 2022-23 match at the IIT-M Chemplast Ground here on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, left-arm spinner S Mohan Prasath (5/60) completed a five-wicket haul to help Jolly Rovers bowl Alwarpet out for 176 in the first innings. At the Pachaiyappa’s College Ground, Rajat Paliwal (158 off 205 balls, 16 fours) struck a hundred to guide India Pistons CC to a challenging first innings total of 422 against Globe Trotters SC.

Meanwhile, opener Narayan Jagadeesan (105 off 173 balls, 11 fours) and Adithya Ganesh (101 off 191 balls, 11 fours, 1 six) hit a ton each as Vijay CC secured a comfortable first innings lead over Sea Hawks CC. Elsewhere, leg-spinner M Abhinav (5/87) bagged five wickets for UFCC (T Nagar), which bowled Nelson SC out for 316 in the first innings.
