Tarush, who is pursuing 11th grade at the KC High International School here, took to the Japanese martial art at the tender age of eight and was a member of the Chennai team at the World Aikido seminar, which was hosted in Varanasi last year.
“Tarush has a good sense of balance and self-awareness, which are important in this Samurai martial art,” said Ela, a senior sensei. Ela is a third-degree black belt holder and has been employed as an instructor at the Aikido world headquarters in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.
