PSG victory throws CL group wide open
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) defeated 10-man Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford here on Wednesday to throw open Champions League (CL) Group H.
Neymar scored a brace and captain Marquinhos netted the other goal as PSG registered its third win. Marcus Rashford struck the solitary goal for the home side. After Matchday 5, PSG leads Group H with nine points, sitting ahead of second-placed United – which also has nine points – only on a better head-to-head record.
German club RB Leipzig finds itself on nine points as well after beating Istanbul Basaksehir 4-3 in a thriller. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 750th career goal as Juventus got the better of Dynamo Kiev 3-0 in Group G. La Liga outfit Barcelona also won by the same margin against Ferencvaros.
Elsewhere, Chelsea thrashed Sevilla 4-0 away from home in Group E, with striker Olivier Giroud getting all four goals. Borussia Dortmund played out a 1-1 draw with Lazio in Group F to qualify for the knockout stages.
