In the recently-held 2020 NBA Draft, the opening picks went according to plan. Minnesota Timberwolves selected 19-year-old shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who could form a deadly partnership with Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.

After becoming the No.1 overall pick, Edwards said: “I feel like I am going to fit perfectly with these guys.” In his only year at the University of Georgia, Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game as a newcomer.

Golden State Warriors had the second pick and chose to select James Wiseman, who is capable of playing the anchor role on both sides of the floor. Ahead of the draft, there was speculation that Warriors might trade the pick in order to select an established player, but the franchise didn’t do so.

“I have a great relationship with Stephen Curry. I went to his camp, so he taught me a lot. When I was in high school, he gave me a lot of information about the game. I just took a picture with him. So, that is my guy,” said Wiseman, who featured only thrice for Memphis Grizzlies last season.

On third, Charlotte Hornets selected point guard LaMelo Ball. “I definitely feel great. God put me there and I feel like he is going to let me blossom,” said LaMelo.

Chicago Bulls took Patrick Williams in its first chance – the overall fourth pick.

“I can’t really say too much, but I just know that my dreams are bigger than the draft night. I would rather show you what those dreams are rather than tell you right now. I am ready to go to Chicago and work on my dreams,” said the forward. At five, Cleveland Cavaliers selected Isaac Okoro
