He gave some sound advice: Thapa on birthday boy Dhoni

The pearls of wisdom of Dhoni, who celebrates his 39th birthday on Tuesday, worked wonders as John Gregory-managed Chennaiyin clinched its second Indian Super League (ISL) title in March 2018. Former India captain Dhoni is one of the three co-owners of CFC, alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani.

“I spent some time with him during the team lunch. When he was with the players, he gave a lot of important advice. And, we had the chance to apply them in our remaining matches that season. He also spoke about how to nurture that winning mentality,” said Thapa. “Especially for youngsters like me, those were sound advice to get from such an established professional,” added the 22-year-old. “He has brought glory and laurels to our country and continues to be a role model for millions of Indians. I would like to wish Dhoni paaji a very happy birthday,” Thapa greeted the talisman who led India to victory at the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
