Jawahar beats St John’s in final
Jawahar Vidhalaya emerged victorious in the Young Talents Under-12 Inter-School Cricket Tournament by inflicting a 105-run defeat on St John’s Public in the summit clash held in the city recently.

In the final, Jawahar Vidhalaya, which batted first, posted 175 runs on the board from its stipulated overs – 30. Defending a little less than six runs per over, the winning side bowled St John’s out for a paltry 70 in 28.2 overs. B Rajveer Singh (4/6) was the wreaker-in-chief for Jawahar Vidhalaya, taking an invaluable tally of four wickets.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Jawahar Vidhalaya defeated DAV by a big margin of 119 runs. In the other last four stage meeting, St John’s edged Nellai Nadar by three wickets.
Brief scores: Final: Jawahar Vidhalaya 175 all-out in 30 overs (Venesh Varshan 47, Ankit 35, Shubh Yadav 4/19, Mukhul 2/35) beat St John’s Public 70 all-out in 28.2 overs (B Rajveer Singh 4/6, Shrinand 2/7).
Semi-finals: Nellai Nadar 116 for 8 in 30 overs (RT Jishnu 42, Mukhul 3/22, Rahul 2/7) lost to St John’s Public 117 for 7 in 29.1 overs (Sarvesh Saravanan 26*, RT Jishnu 3/36);
Jawahar Vidhalaya 233 for 4 in 30 overs (Shrinand 91, B Rajveer Singh 89) beat DAV 114 all-out in 28.5 overs (Naren Santhosh 30, N Yogendhiran 3/12, Saketh Ram 2/15, Jeevitesh 2/18).
