England forces series draw with 2-wkt win
England won the third One-Day International against South Africa by two wickets to force a 1-1 series draw here on Sunday.
Johannesburg
Set to make 257 for a win, Joe Denly hit 66 and Joe Root 49 as England cantered home with 6.4 overs to spare.
Earlier, Adil Rashid made sure a peculiar umpiring decision did not overshadow his 100th one-day international. Amid confusion, on-field umpires Shaun George and Gregory Brathwaite gave the hosts their review back and Rassie van der Dussen was spared because of technical issues that had seen Temba Bavuma given out to the previous ball.
Rashid was therefore deprived of the opportunity to go for a hat-trick but he took three for 51, including the wicket of Quinton de Kock, whose 69 plus an identical score from the unbeaten David Miller took the home side to what seems a below-par 256 for seven.
Brief scores: South Africa 256/7 in 50 overs (Q de Kock 69, D Miller 69*, A Rashid 3/51) lost to England 257/8 in 43.2 overs (J Denly 66, J Root 49, J Bairstow 43, B Hedricks 3/59)
