Aditya’s century helps Mugappair win

Aditya Venkatesh (101 not out) hit an unbeaten century as Mugappair Cricket Club got the better of MAS Cricket Club by 50 runs in the TNCA Thiruvallur DCA First Division League Championship encounter here.

Batting first, centurion Aditya did bulk of the scoring for Mugappair, which posted 214 for eight on the board in its regulation overs. Left-handed batter Aditya’s 98-ball innings was laced with 11 fours and one maximum. The victor was on the top of its game with the ball, skittling out MAS for 164 in 39.4 overs.


In a Second Division match, right-arm medium pacer A Barath (6/42) bagged a six-wicket haul but his effort wasn’t enough as Thiruthani Cricket Club went down to Ebenezer CA by two wickets. Another bowler who scalped six wickets was J Divakar (6/40), whose side IEC Recreation Club defeated SRF Recreation Club by 70 runs in Fourth Division.

III Division: Aththis CC 139 for 6 in 30 overs (S Sachin 32, S Vinod 27*, S Risha Rajas 4/34) beat SSCA 112 all-out in 28 overs (V Tharunkumar 3/34);


WABCO India RC 92 all-out in 27.6 overs (AS Suryaprakash 32, R Praveen 4/30, B Magesh 3/9) lost to United CC 96 for 4 in 20.5 overs (N Hari 26);


IV Division: IEC RC 211 for 3 in 30 overs (C Chandra Kumar 54*, BK Kaushik Keifer Minh 48*, L Thulasi Ram 50) beat SRF RC 141 all-out in 24.2 overs (Atul Kumar Dwivedi 70, J Divakar 6/40);


DRBCCC Hindu College 158 all-out in 29.3 overs (S Dinesh Kumar 25, K Nagaraj 4/14) beat Universal CC 133 for 7 in 30 Overs (J Ayyappan 47*, R Veeramani 36, M Lingan 4/28).

V Murli Dharan, a Class 8 student of Velammal Main School (Mogappair campus), emerged victorious in the singles category of the Republic Day Table Tennis Tournament 2020 held in the city recently. The age category – Under-15 – event, which saw 24 schools participate in it, was held at the Tejesh Sports Academy at Madipakkam.
