Chasing a below par total of 134, Ravichandran Ashwin-led Dindigul reached its target with 11 balls to spare. Courtesy the victory, DD consolidated its position at the top with 12 points from six matches. Kanchi still has the same six points after as many games in TNPL 4. Left-handed opener Hari Nishanth stayed unbeaten till the end, taking the side across the line alongside the hard-hitting R Vivek, who smashed a 10-ball 26.

The middle-order batter hit two boundaries and a couple of maximums during his cameo. Hari Nishanth, who made a cautious start, smacked five fours and three sixes during his 44-ball stay in the middle. The southpaw and Vivek stitched an unbroken half-century stand for the fourth wicket, protecting Dindigul’s unbeaten run in the event.

Earlier, opening batsman K Vishal Vaidhya (51 runs off 41 balls) played a lone hand as Kanchi could muster only 133 for eight in its stipulated overs. Wicketkeeper Suresh Lokeshwar (26 not out) got some valuable runs at the death as all the other batters failed miserably. Leggie Mohan Abhinav spun some magic with the ball, taking three wickets for 24 runs during his match-winning spell. Hari Nishanth chipped in with two scalps as well.

Brief scores: VB Kanchi Veerans 133 for 8 in 20 overs (K Vishal Vaidhya 51, Mohan Abhinav 3/24, Hari Nishanth 2/17) lost to Dindigul Dragons 134 for three in 18.1 overs (Hari Nishanth 61*, R Vivek 26*, R Divakar 2/34).
