Fit-again Bhuvneshwar added to India A squad
Fit-again Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been added to India A squad for the third-place contest against South Africa A to be played on Wednesday in Alur.

The 28-year-old has spent more than a month on the sidelines after aggravating his back issue while playing the third ODI against England on July 17. This saw him not being considered for the Test series against Joe Root’s men. Later, he went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to recover from the back problem. A few days ago, he had shared a few photos of him lifting weights, giving an indication that he is on the road to recovery.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Monday, posted a tweet confirming about Bhuvneshwar’s comeback.
Should Bhuvneshwar prove his match fitness in the list A game on Wednesday, he will retain his place in the ODI team for the Asia Cup.Â
The national selectors might also name him in India A squad for the two four-day games against Australia A to further assess his fitness level. In his absence, Ishant Sharma is leading India’s pace attack in England and the pacers have done well the series so far.Â
Bhuvneshwar’s absence hasn’t had an impact on team’s performance. Jasprit Bumrah, who missed two Tests due to a broken thumb, returned to the playing XI for the third Test, further bolstering India’s pace attack.Â
Virat Kohli led-team is currently trailing the five-match series 2-1. The team lost the first two ties but made a strong comeback in the third Test to defeat England by a big margin of 203 runs.Â
