    Tamil Nadu’s Priynga comes second in national aquathlon

    Maharashtra aquathletes dominated the U-16 phase of national aquathlon individual age-group championship which concluded here on Sunday.

    The championship was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Triathlon Association under the aegis of the Indian Triathlon Federation. After picking the top spots in the U-19 phase held on Saturday, it was the turn of Rahul Dhanaji Shinde and Manisi Vinod Mohite, both from Maharashtra, to earn the limelight by winning the boys’s and girls’ events. The requirements for the U-16 participants were 500 m distance of swimming and 4 km road running.

    In the girl’s section, Manisi clocked overall 24: 12 min inclusive of 7:19 min for swim and 16:18 min for the run. Tamil Nadu’s Priynga Pugazharasu swam faster (6: 52 min) but lagged behind in the run (18:31 min) to come second with an overall 26:02 min effort. 

    The third place also went to a Tamil Nadu girl, Sandhya, with a total time taken of 26: 04 min (7:24 min for swim and 18:06 min for run)
