A win in its final league match will seal a spot in the ‘Play-offs’ for Dragons while defending champion Super Gillies, which is out of the race, will look to sign off the eight-team league phase with a second win.

Dragons lost to Karaikudi Kaalai in Tirunelveli in its previous outing after enjoying a fourmatch winning streak. Batting first, Dragons struggled to accelerate in the middle overs before R Vivek’s 13-ball 42 lifted the side to 177. However, Dragons struggled to keep Kaalai’s openers in check, conceding 81 runs in the powerplay that effectively ended its chances of winning the match.

Super Gillies, on the other hand, will look to finish on a high in what has been a disappointing season. It will target its second victory in TNPL 3 beating Kanchi Veerans in Natham in its previous match. Gillies posted 180 for 5 on the back of opener S Karthik’s 76 and a late assault by Murugan Ashwin. Gillies bowled and fielded tightly to win by 13 runs. Gillies has never lost to Dragons during their two previous meetings.
