It defeated Kanchi Veerans by 11 runs to rack up six points from four games. All-rounder Abhishek Tanwar opined his side’s hard work has finally bore fruit, resulting in three successive victories.
“The mood in the camp is good. Obviously, we are very excited, and we have been working very hard for this,” Tanwar during the postmatch press conference. When asked if 167 was a defendable total at the NPR College wicket, he added, “Yes, it was definitely a defendable score, and 160 was about par here in our opinion.
While I was batting, I had the total of 160 in my mind.” All bowlers except Kiran Akash picked up at least a wicket for the Madurai franchise against Veerans. The 26-yearold asserted the disciplined effort of his mates helped his team cross the finish line.
“The pitch was comparatively slow. So, on this kind of a ground and wicket, bowling definitely will have to be up to the mark. If you give a lot of loose balls, then you can’t defend a total like this (167) which was just above par,” he concluded.
