Broad’s fitness concern for England
England is sweating over the fitness of Stuart Broad ahead of its big Test series against India after he was sent for a scan on his injured left ankle.
London
Broad suffered a niggle in his ankle after bowling just eight overs in the second innings of Nottinghamshire's championship match against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge.
England's opening bowler is said to be relaxed about the issue, but England will be keeping its fingers firmly crossed that the scan does not reveal more damage to what has been an on-going problem.
Broad's strike partner Jimmy Anderson is nursing a shoulder problem while Chris Woakes faces a battle to be fit for the first Test at Edgbaston on August 1.
The last thing England needs as it prepares to face Virat Kohli and company is a problem with another of its leading bowlers.
'Stuart's ankle is on-going and it was stirred up a bit when he landed in the footholds so it made sense for him to come off when it became too sore for him to bowl,' said Notts coach Peter Moores.
'It is manageable but he has a lot of cricket to play for the rest of this summer.'
