    The cricket crazy fans of the city were a disappointed lot when the IP matches involving thier favourite team Chennai Super Kings were moved out of the city due to protests over setting up of the Cauvery Management Board.

    Their hopes of rooting for their team that was making a comeback after a two-year gap ended after the completion of the opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
    With the third edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League set to begin in July, there were talks that Chennai may miss out on hosting as the governing council was contemplating conducting matches in the districts (Dindigul and Tirunelveli) with Coimbatore likely to be added as a new venue. 
    However, quashing all those rumours a source in the know of things clarified on Friday that there is no substance to those theories. 
    “We don’t know who is spreading these canards. It is completely untrue. The official fixtures list and the venues that have been chosen will be announced shortly. There is nothing more to be said on this subject now,” revealed the source. 
    This news will definitely come as a great relief to all the fans in Chennai who have had to suffer the anguish of seeing CSK’s matches being shifted to Pune. 
    In the second edition of the TNPL, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai hosted the opening match between defending champion Tuti Patriots and Dindigul Dragons and the final between the eventual winner Chepauk Super Gillies and Tuti Patriots. In all, eight matches were played at Chepauk.
