    Super Gillies retains Sasidev, Karthik and Alexander

    Chepauk Super Gillies, winner of the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, has retained three uncapped players in S Karthik, R Alexander and U Sasidev in the player retention list announced by the TNPL Governing Council.

    It has also been decided that the third edition of the tournament will be held from either the first or second week of July and will end by the first or second week of August. 

    The player draft is likley to be held by the end of this month. It is learnt that the exact dates of the tournament will be finalised after TNPL’s official broadcast partner (Star Sports) decides its telecast schedule. 

    Each team will be eligible to retain up to three players such that not more than one player who has represented in international matches and one player who has represented in senior domestic tournaments from the squad of 2017 season. 

    The retention of the players is optional and not mandatory for the teams. 

    The maximum squad size for the franchisees is 19. All registered players who are not retained by teams will go into Player Draft Pool. The TNCA will provide the list of registered players to the franchisees at least seven days before the player draft. 

    Only those players who are in the Draft Pool can be taken by the franchisees. No private signing will be allowed. 

    If any player is selected to play for a team and is either injured or unavailable for a balance portion of the tournament due to selection in Indian team/India A team or the U-19 team, the franchisees can request for a replacement player from the unpicked player pool.
