Local League: Globe Trotters coach Senthilnathan confident in title clash of the Elite Division of the TNCA League
Globe Trotters Sports Club coach M Senthilnathan is quietly confident of his team coming out on top against Grand Slam CC in the final of the Elite Division of the TNCA League beginning on Friday. Both the teams had reached the final on the back of convincing victories in their respective semi-finals.

Senthilnathan said his team will not make the mistake of taking Grand Slam lightly. “Although we have immense faith and belief in our ability, we will not underestimate Grand Slam. Both the teams proved that they deserve to be in the final after winning the semi-final matches. We are not dependent on any one individual to deliver and instead we will bank on team effort to take us past the finishing line,” said Senthil.
While Globe Trotters defeated India Pistons by 98 runs, Grand Slam turned the tables on last season’s runner up Vijay CC by 77 runs in a low-scoring contest, where neither of the teams crossed 200. The Trotters’ cause was well-served by its captain MS Washington Sundar whose all-round heroics paved the way for the triumph.
Washington was his team’s highest scorer in the second innings scoring 94 off 110 balls with seven sixes. Washington then took centre stage with the ball taking three wickets to go with the seven wickets he claimed in the first innings. He finished with a match haul of 10 for 76. Left-arm medium pacer Chetan Sakariya, too, made a significant impact taking four wickets. The chief exponents for Grand Slam have been bowlers P Amarnath and V Yo Mahesh who shared seven wickets between them in the fourth innings to bundle out the formidable Vijay CC’s batting for 101.
