Local League: Aravinth bowls Karur to a facile win
Medium pacer T Aravinth’s mesmerising spell of five for 22 paved the way for Karur to ease to a 56-run win over Perambalur in the TNCA inter-districts tournament for SS Rajan T20 Trophy.

Set to chase 176, Perambalur stumbled on its way as Aravinth didn’t let it off the hook. He received good support from CK Virat Harish who took three for 18. Virat Harish was also the top-scorer for Karur with a fine 73.

Nidhish cracks century
Nelson SC replied strongly to reach 193 for two after Vijay CC posted a formidable 456 on day two of the Elite division of the TNCA First Division League here on Friday.
Vijay CC’s G Rahul Singh, who was unbeaten on 95 overnight, reached his maiden ton in only his second match but got out soon after at 101 (153b, 9x4, 1x5, 1x6). Another overnight batsman, KB Arun Karthick fell six runs short of a century. But the day undoubtedly belonged to off-spinner Shoaib Md. Khan who ended with an impressive haul of nine for 124. Shoaib took the last five wickets in the space of 27 balls. Nelson’s S Karthik scored 87 (157b, 13x4) to lead his team to a confident start. In another Elite match, India Pistons reached within sight of taking lead over Young Stars on the second day of their match. After bowling out Young Stars for 249, Pistons finished the day at 210 for four, trailing by 39 runs. Teenage opener Nidhish S Rajagopal batted diligently to notch up his maiden century 125 batting (216b, 17x4) in first division.
