Anupama bags bronze in Billiards Championship
Anupama Ramachandran won the third place in the National Sub-Junior Billiards Championship at Bengaluru on Wednesday.

She defeated her TN mate Mariam Agniesh 133-77 in the last round robin match. Keerthana Pandian of Karnataka won the gold while Ishika Shah of Madhya Pradesh settled for the silver.Â
Earlier on Tuesday night, Anupama Ramachandran lost a close match 90-101 to Ishika Shah and with that she also went out of the reckoning for the gold. Anupama found it a challenge playing with the defence of Ishika who never hesitated to pot the opponent’s ball and double and force a miss getting two points. Anupama could not get points and also got into difficult positions in the process leaving easy positions for Ishika. At one stage Anupama was trailing by 26 points and then caught up pretty close in the 60 minutes format.
Shrikrishna started his fourth and last title chase, the junior snooker, swamping Sanjay Das of Delhi 3-0. After a few safety exchanges got an opening to make a 51 break in the first frame to win it 755. Again in the second frame, he got another opening after a few exchanges and made a table clearance of 85 putting the score at 120-4 and the frame score at 2-0. Sanjay Das had opportunities but did not capitalise on them.
In the third frame Sanjay got a red and potted a difficult blue in the process going out of position. Shrikrishna had another opening and on a visit that had three recoveries. He came up with a break of 56 and missed blue to the yellow pot with two reds on the table. The score was pegged at 62-14 and 43 points on the table. After a few more exchanges, Sanjay Das shook hands when the score was at 69-25.
