Tamil Nadu aims for first win
Tamil Nadu is on the verge of its first win of the season after bowling out Baroda for 197 in the second innings on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Group C match at Vadodara on Monday.
Chennai
On a topsy-turvy day, TN lost five wickets for 48 runs to be bowled out for 274 in its first innings after resuming at the overnight score of 226 for 5. Baroda’s second innings lasted only 57.5 overs, leaving a target of 233 for victory.
TN’s outside chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals evaporated after Mumbai routed Tripura by 10 wickets. Speaking after the day’s play, Vignesh said that despite missing out on a quarterfinal berth, his team would not let it affect its morale on the final day. “We have bowled well to restrict Baroda to 197 in its second innings. We are disappointed at not qualifying for the knockouts but right now the mood is positive after a good day’s play. All we are focussing on is to get an outright win,” said the 23-year-old.
On a personal front, this has been a memorable season for Vignesh as he took 24 wickets. “I’m pleased with how I bowled. It’s good for a fast bowler from South to get recognised and I will continue to work hard and aim for better consistency,” added Vignesh.
