Nine outstation teams for Buchi Babu tournament
The 2017-18 edition of the All India Buchi Babu invitation tournament hosted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association will get underway from September 2. A total of 12 teams have been divided into four groups with three teams each. The top teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Nine state teams have been invited along with three local outfits — TNCA President’s XI, TNCA City XI and TNCA Districts XI. The prize money for the winners and runners-up will be Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 respectively. The losing semi-finalists will get Rs. 25,000 each.
The opening day will witness four matches — TNCA President’s XI vs Kerala, TNCA Districts XI vs Haryana, TNCA XI vs Baroda and Chhattisgarh vs UPCA. R Rangarajan, Chairman of AGS Group spoke on the occasion of the tournament’s unveiling. “Buchi Babu is the curtain-raiser for the Ranji Trophy season.
It continues to be a significant event in the annual cricketing calendar. The up and coming cricketers in Tamil Nadu will get a chance to test their mettle against players from other states,” said Rangarajan. Suresh Raina and Mohit Sharma are the two prominent Indian cricketers who have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
