Badminton: Siddhanth shocks Gour
Fifteen-year-old Siddhanth Gupta of TN created a flutter when he shocked second seed Mohit Goury of Haryana 21-14,1921,21-12 on his way to quarter-finals in the under-17 boys section of the All India Junior Ranking Tournament here on Friday.

Siddhanth rallied from 7-13 down in the first game to lead 19-13 taking 12 points in a row. Goury fought back in the second game but in the third he was no match for the TN boy. “I kept playing the rallies and he was tired in the third game,” said Siddhanth.
Earlier, in the second round, Siddhanth toppled No 14 seed Rajan Yadav of UP 21-17, 21-19 on his way to the pre-quarterfinals. The ninth standard student of Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, Kilpauk kept his cool and engaged his opponent in rallies.
The biggest upset was in the boys under-19 section when top seed D Jaswant of Gopichand Academy went down to Mohit Goury of Haryana 18-21, 16-21 in the second round.
