A day after India women's cricket team agonisingly lost to hosts England in the World Cup final at Lord's, veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami said the time is right to take the game forward, observing the "real journey" for the eves starts now.

"This is the right time to invest in women's cricket. I hope to see a new dawn from here on for women's cricket. Women's cricket is on the right track right now and the journey ahead begins from here," Jhulan was quoted as saying by ANM news from London on Monday.

After Punam Raut (86), semi-final's star Harmanpreet Kaur (51) and Veda Krishnamurthy (35) helped India come within touching distance of the target, the Mithali Raj-led side lost wickets in a hurry and inexplicably lost by nine runs.

England's Anya Shrubsole returned best figures of 6/46.

"I don't want to talk about the match," said Jhulan, who may have played her final World Cup.

"It's a good feeling that we are being appreciated by all. But if we would have won the final, it would have been the perfect icing on the cake. We are hurt at the way we lost in the final. Next time, we will try and do better," the 34-year-old Bengal pacewoman said.
