Hemalatha leads from the front
A scintillating all-round performance from Tamil Nadu skipper D Hemalatha (4/25 & 71 off 92 balls, 13 fours) helped her team beat neighbours Karnataka by seven wickets in the U-23 South Zone one-day league at Allapuzha.

Batting first, Karnataka, riding on their captain G Divya’s 71 managed to score 185 in 48.5 overs. Divya’s opposite number was lethal with her off-spinners as the Karnataka batters crumbled under pressure. In reply, Tamil Nadu were off to a good start with Hemalatha and S B Keerthana adding 120 runs in 24.5 overs for the first wicket.Â
Brief scores: Karnataka 185 in 48.5 overs (G Divya 71, D Hemalatha 4/25, K N Ramyashri 3/28) lost to Tamil Nadu 186/3 in 40.4 overs (D Hemalatha 77, S B Keerthana 38).
