Neelanand, Nithya reign supreme
India’s R. Neelanand from the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association (TNSA) won two medals in the Sail Qatar 2016 international sailing championship, which was held in Doha Bay, Qatar last weekend.

He won gold in the Optimist U-12 category and Bronze in the Optimist overall categories. Nithya Balachander also of TNSA also won gold in the optimist girl’s category.
The Indian Team of R. Neelanand, Anirudh Sivakumar, Nithya Balachander, the first three from the TNSA, and Abhimanyu Kanwar also won silver in the optimist team racing championship. The Sail Qatar 2016 international sailing championship saw over 60 sailors from 14 countries including Iran, Tunisia, Britain, Spain, Italy, France, Kazakhstan to name a few.
