    Karthik calmed us down: Aushik

Tuti Patriots bowlers Aushik Srinivas and Aswin Crist were all praise for their captain Dinesh Karthik when their side played Dindigul Dragons in the semi-final on Friday. The bowlers said Karthik calmed them during the initial onslaught of Dragons who lost by 38 runs in the end.

“He basically calmed us down because initially runs were conceded. By the time we came in to bowl, it was a pressure situation for us. So he was trying to calm us,” said Aushik Srinivas.

Opener Jagadeesan was in his elements as he notched up another 50 and defied the Patriots’ bowlers. However, the Tuti bowlers struck at crucial intervals and then Washington Sundar bowled intelligently in the power-play.

“When we took the first three wickets, the pace (with which they were scoring) reduced. They had to put in more efforts to score runs. I know where to bowl to both of them and where they will score. So I just wanted to bowl to my strengths and restrict them from hitting,” said Aswin Crist.

Aushik Srinivas said Washington knows his job well as he had played in the limited-over format for India juniors.

“Actually in this format, he is a little senior to me. I haven’t played in Twenty20 games or one-day games for Tamil Nadu. He has represented India in under-19 and so he has more experience than me in that aspect,” said Aushik. Aushik said the total of 180 gave them the confidence.

“We are a bowling side which has conceded less than 150 in all the games, even in pitches like Natham. We have tremendous faith in our bowling ability and even in the game we have scored 95 (against Lyca Kovai Kings), we tried to defend that score,” said Aushik.
