An all-round team is what Super Gillies have and they have shown that they can upset the apple-cart of other teams with an impressive performance, peaking at the right time. While it was their bowling, that sizzled against Karaikudi Kaalai, it was their batting that saw them through on Saturday against Kanchi Warriors. The batting unit looks good with the likes of skipper Rajagopal Sathish, Vasanth Saravanan and K H Gopinath finding themselves among the runs. Antony Dhas, R Alexander and D Tamil Kumaran have been impressive with the ball giving the Super Gillies an all-round advantage.

The Gillies would be keen to plug the gap in their opener X Thalaivan Sargunam’s form. The opener is much more worth than his numbers show, 50 runs in three matches with a highest of 29, and it is time Thalaivan comes out all guns blazing. In the bowling department, the Gillies have picked up wickets at a consistent pace and are also economical. With Dhas and Sai Kishore bowling at an economy of under-6, and Alexander coming up with vital strikes, their bowling unit looks a well-oiled machine. The skipper’s bursts with the new ball cannot be discounted too. On the other hand, the Kings have names like Anirudh Sita Ram, L Suryapprakash and R Rohith, who are capable of producing fireworks with the bat.

Rohit has been striking at close to 200, which means the Gillies bowlers will have a tough time and no room for error in an attempt to contain the marauder. Hat-trick hero, M K Sivakumar heads the Kings’ bowling line-up with M Mohammed and K Vignesh. The presence of Royal Challengers Bangalore star J Syed Mohammed in their ranks would be a shot-inthe-arm for the Kings to look up for experience in crunch situations. In all, Monday’s encounter could be an evenly matched contest between two teams equal in strength.
