Chepauk Super Gillies unveil jersey, anthem
Tamil Nadu Premier League team Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) unveiled their jersey, logo and anthem at a glittering ceremony, here on Sunday.
Chennai
The fans’ wait was worth as the ceremony was fittingly staged on ‘Madras Day’, by the only team that represents Chennai. A galaxy of stars from the cricketing world and the tinsel town graced the occasion. Mohammed Azharuddin, Irfan Pathan, Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan were the guests of honour. The legends released the team anthem ‘Pattaiya Kalappu’ which was followed by a dance performance of the anthem, which started as a flash mob and an impromptu jig.
Cricketing legend Mohammed Azharuddin unveiled the CSG jersey and said the league would benefit Tamil Nadu players. “The players from the rural areas have a great opportunity to get into the limelight through this league.”
Former India pacer Zaheer Khan said, “I congratulate the TNCA for initiating a league like this,” he said. Later, actress Samantha distributed the team jersey to Azharuddin, Nehra, Zaheer and Pathan. The entire CSG team then walked the ramp with models.
The gala event came to a rousing finish with the franchise owner Sivanthi Adityan joining the entire squad on stage to wish the team and thank the gathering.
