Southern Railway beat Eastern, enter semis
Southern Railway women marched into the semifinals of the Arise Steel Cup basketball tournament beating their Eastern counterparts in an exciting match at the Santhome Higher secondary school indoor court on Friday.

Southern, who trailed till the last few minutes in the fourth quarter, made a last push in the last two minutes to win 56-52. Southern Railway move into the last four along wth Chhattisgarh, who topped the group with two wins.
Apoorva Muralinath was the top scorer for Southern Railway with 16 points while Salma Devi (13) was the main scorer for Eastern.
Though the Eastern girls were shorter, they held the upper hand in the first quarter and led 12-6 but the Chennai side rallied in the second and third quarters to catch up with them. Eastern even led by two points a couple of minutes from the final hooter but Raji Priyadarshini scored two points with 11 seconds left and then P Anitha finished off almost at the close.
RCF overcame KSEB 62-41 in a men’s match in the morning with Prakash Mishra scoring 23 points for the winners. Shashank Roy was the top scorer for KSEB with 11 points.
