C Shriram of Varsity Occasionals scalped eight wickets, including five wickets in five balls, to help his team to a narrow two-wicket victory over Globe Cricket Club in the TNCA fifth division ‘C’ league match here.

Batting first, Globe Cricket Club were cruising with V Varun Kalyanaraman (63) and K Balamurali (57) going great guns with half-centuries.
However, once Shriram put the brakes on the scoring, Globe were bundled out for 175 in 31.4 overs. Chasing, Varsity crossed the line with two wickets and 10 balls to spare with S Sikanther anchoring with an unbeaten half-century.
