Beach volleyball tourney held in city
As part of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate the 39th Coast Guard Day, the Headquarters Coast Guard Region (East) Chennai conducted Beach Volley Ball Tournament at Marina Beach recently.

The tournament was inaugurated by D Jaykumar, MLA on February 23 and Inspector General of Police SP Sharma, Commander, Coast Guard Region (East) graced the final match held on February 25 and gave away the prizes. 25 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams participated in the tournament, which was played over three days.
Friends Sports Club, Thiruvanmiyur and Queen’s Mary College won the first prize in men’s category and women’s category, respectively. The second prize was given to Revenue Sports Chennai in the men’s category and Panimalar Engineering College in the women’s category.                                    Â
Search and rescue demonstration by Coast Guard helicopters and pyrotechnic display by Coast Guard ships were added attraction at the event.
