Electing to field on a lively wicket, Saurashtra made early inroads into the Vidarbha batting line-up consisting of ex-players from Tamil Nadu and Mumbai. The left-arm paceman Unadkat took five for 70 from 18.4 overs and later Suarashtra consolidated their position by close of play when they scored 70 for one.Â
Unadkat took his first wicket with the second ball of the innings when he sent back JM Sharma. HR Rathod, who shared the new ball with Unadkat, accounted for the other opener Fazal as Vidarbha slumped to 20 for two.Â
Rathod gave Unadkat good support as he picked up another wicket and returned figures of two for 28 from 12 overs.Â
Former Tamil Nadu player G Satish made 21 and former Tamil Nadu captain S Badrinath 17 but the main contribution for Vidarbha came from former India opener Wasim Jaffer who made 41 off 86 balls.Â
In another quarterfinal at Mysore, Mumbai made 303 for six at close of play on the first day against Jharkhand.Â
Opener AA Herwadkar was the star for the former Ranji champions with a well-made 107. Herwadkar’s 126run stand for the third wicket with SA Yadav, who made a quickfire 75 off 70 balls with nine fours and two sixes, was the highlight of the Mumbai innings.
