Anand loses to Hungarian teenager
Former World champion Viswanathan Anand seems to be struggling to come to terms with tournament play. The Indian lost his second game at the Gibraltar Open on Monday and faced the loss of crucial rating points.

Sixteen-year-old Hungarian Benjamin Gledura played an excellent technical game in the seventh round against Anand’s semi-Slav defence. The game was even for a major part and when Anand pushed his King-rook pawn the ending was in sight.Â
The Hungarian played the knight versus bishop ending perfectly and steered it to a King and pawn ending which was lost for black after 48 moves. Â
On a day when most of the topboard games were drawn, David Anton Guijjaro of Spain defeated Richard Rapport to emerge sole leader with six points.Â
Half a point behind was a group of 15 which includes Indians Pentala Harikrishna, SP Sethuraman, Abhijeet Gupta and Vidit Santhosh Gujrathi.Â
Sethuraman beat Andreas Kelires in the seventh round in 25 moves of Sicilian Defence. Sethu finished off the game with an exchange sacrifice leading to mate. In a contest between ex-World junior champions, Harikrishna and Bruzon Lazaro drew on the second board. Dronavalli Harika did well to draw with Laurent Fressinet while GN Gopal lost to Nils Grandelius of Sweden.Â
