    Jr Schumacher to race in Chennai

    The news of 16-year-old Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, to be part of the MRF Challenge finale at Irungattukottai near here, later this year has brought joy to all sport-enthusiasts

    Speaking to News Today, one of the organisors from the MRF confirmed the news. He said, "Mick Schumacher will contest the quadruple-header at the Irungattukottai track."

    The cars feature two-litre Renault engines powering Dallara 'Formulino' chassis. Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi, leads the current series after rounds in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Dubai.

    Mick Schumacher coming to Chennai for the race has fuelled lots of interest among race and rally drivers across the country.

    An elated Sujith, a rally driver from Goa, said, "Good to see the son of a legend drive in India. Indian public would be happy to see junior Schumi drive here."

    On his part another, John Peter, a race enthusiast, said, "Schumacher was a legend in motorsports and we will get to see how good his son is.

    Already son of legendary Ayrton senna and former F1 racers like Verstappen have stepped up. We hope Mick Schumi put up a good show here."

    Mick began his career in karting in 2008, progressing to the German ADAC Formula 4 by 2015. In 2011 and 2012 Schumacher drove in the KF3 class of the ADAC Kart Masters, ending in 9th and 7th respectively. In the Euro Wintercup of the KF3 class he was 3rd in 2011 and 2012 and in 2012 was 3rd in the KF3 Rating DMV Kart Championship. In 2013 he finished 3rd in the German Junior Kart Championship, and the CIK-FIA Super Cup KF juniors.
