Life's Lessons: Take every chance to make life better
There was a small village by the river. Everyone lived happily and offered regular prayers at the village temple. Once, after heavy rains, the river was in spate and the villagers began to move to higher ground.

One man ran to the temple and warned the priest of impending floods and asked him to come along with the villagers. The priest smiled and said, “I have full faith in God and He will come to save me. I will not leave the temple.” So, the man left.
Soon, the water level was waist-high. As the priest climbed on a desk, a boatman came to rescue the priest. But the priest again refused to leave, saying God would save him. So the boatman left.
When the water rose to ceiling level, the priest climbed to the roof of the temple and prayed to God to save him. Soon a helicopter came to rescue the priest, but he refused and gave the same reason again. The helicopter left to search and help others.
At last, when the temple was nearly submerged under water, the priest kept his head up and cried, “God, I worshipped you and kept my faith in you. Why didn’t you come to save me?” God appeared in front of him and with a smile, He said, “Oh mad man, I came to save you three times, first as the village do-gooder, then as a boatman. I even came by helicopter, but you did not recognise me.” The priest realised his mistake and asked for forgiveness.
Moral: In life, opportunities come quietly. We fail to recognise them and keep complaining that life does not give us the breaks.
