Mind, Body & Soul: ‘Pinning blame is a pointless exercise’
Blaming oneself or another person or situation for something that goes awry prevents growth and keeps us from achieving our goals. Drop it – and you make room for change.
Chennai
An unknown divine truth about humans is that, ‘What happens, happens to everyone; but what happens to you is decided only by you’. Irrespective of education and experience, anyone living without this understanding naturally tends to blame others.
Blaming is simply justifying that, ‘What went wrong was not because of me, but because of someone or something else’. It could be a person, situation or a belief system, like astrology, numerology and others.
Blaming yourself for something that went wrong in the past or present is guilt. Blaming someone — whether yourself or another — is a pointless exercise that will not allow you to see the positive changes that you would like to see happen in the present or the future. It will hold you back from progress and growth, it will prevent you from realising your dreams and goals.
You will begin to see the changes you wish to see the moment you drop the blame game. Once you have decided not to indulge in this, it is your responsibility to do some preliminary preparation for growth to happen. Thereafter, all the necessary and essential positive changes are taken care of by nature.
The Success Formula
It’s called ‘Start – Stop – Continue’ and it will help you towards the preparation for a better life. We humans are blessed with the power to create what we want. We have the intelligence to discriminate what’s good or bad for us, but we’re unable to practically apply it in our lives. This success formula will help you do that.
How to practise ‘Start – Stop – Continue’
List all the habits and actions that are good for you and that you would like to start incorporating into your life. It could be an exercise programme or spending more time with your family. Then list the activities that you know are self-destructive that you’d like to stop, such as, smoking and unhealthy eating. Finally, list all that you presently do that accelerates your growth, is good for you and needs to be continued.
Every week, assess yourself against your Start – Stop – Continue list. Over time you will realise that only the ‘Continue’ list consistently keeps growing and the other two vanish. This principle will promise you a successful life and will also lead to another significant transformation — you will be a source of positive energy, progress and motivation not only for yourself, but also for others. Bless you all with ever-growing and never-ending progress and happiness.
