Paris Olympics 2024 Day 8 Highlights: Manu Bhaker stands fourth in 25m pistol; Boxer Nishant loses in quarter-finals

CHENNAI: Manu Bhaker who has already made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win two bronze medals in a single Olympic edition lost in the finals of Women’s 25m pistol where she finished in fourth place.

Deepika Kumari started off well in the first round against Germany's Michelle Kroppen by defeating her 6-4. But in the semi-finals, it didn’t go as per her plan especially in the fifth set which was her only chance closer to the medal.

Elsewhere, youngster Bhajan Kaur would take a lot of lessons back home and hopefully come back stronger than ever in her next tournament. The 18-year-old went down to D Choirunisa of Indonesia in women’s individual 1/8 elimination round.

Indians Nethra Kumanan finished sixth at the end of day three whereas Vishnu Saravanan finished 24th after the end of six races.

The Day 8 will start with shooters Raiza Dhillon and Maheswari Chauhan featuring in the women's skeet qualification.

Archer Deepika Kumari will be eyeing for redemption when she faces Germany's Michelle Kroppen in women's individual 1/8 elimination round.

Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan will take part in their respective Dinghy races.

The final will take place over two stages

First stage: It'll consist of 3 series of 5 shots each (total of 15 shots). This stage will determine the rankings of shooters before heading to elimination rounds. It'll be better if we finish higher at the end of this stage

Second Stage: It'll consist of 7 series with 5 shots each (elimination rounds) - As each series gets completed, the lower ranked shooter will get eliminated
