VELLORE : According to Tirupattur Collector Amar Kuswaha tribal artisans from all states will showcase their skills and products during the annual event, which was earlier held only for 2 days.
Buoyed up by huge turnout at the recently concluded week-long Tamil literary festival in Tirupattur, the Collector felt that tourists could be attracted to the summer festival by increasing its duration along with generating additional revenue to the district. “We propose to hold the event in June when the weather will be pleasant and it will also give us time to make all arrangements to make the event a perfect success. Around 50 to 60 stalls will be put up as part of the festival on Yelagiri Hills where tribal artisans will both sell their products and showcase their artistic skills,” Kuswaha said.
“Bringing pan India tribal artisans to Yelagiri Hills will be done in coordination with the Central government’s Tribal federation of India,” the Collector said, adding, “contrary to the usual practice of the two-day festival, which will also include native cuisines, the event this year will run for seven days.”
